Gov’t workers urged to register in BIMP app

13 November 2020 – Mayor Benjamin Magalong is urging City Hall officials and employees to register in the Baguio In My Pocket (BIMP) program that provides “contact-less” transactions among other benefits.

BIMP is a multi-purpose smart phone application and web portal that is currently being rolled-out citywide after a successful pilot run in Irisan barangay where more than 80 percent of its residents voluntarily registered.

Pasig-based Information Technology Business Solutions (ITBS) donated the application for free to Baguio in its bid to digitize its governance and achieve SMART City status where problems are solved with the aid of technology including the delivery of basic services to the public.

The Mayor said that while registration in the app is voluntary, he explained that those in government should register and lead by example so that others would be encouraged to follow suit.

As the country’s designated coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) contact-tracing czar, Magalong said the app will also aid in the city’s intensified contact-tracing process.

ITBS operations manager MJ Barin disclosed that only basic information is required from registrants and assured that proper measures have been put in place to secure the data.

He said the entire data will also be under the ownership and sole management of the city government.
The Mayor led other officials and guests during the grand launching of BIMP and T-PASS (Transport Pre-Alert and Support System), Nov. 9, at City Hall multi-purpose hall.

Offered free to the city by another company, T-PASS is a digital platform for registering cargo vehicles including key information and parcels, persons and things.

It also enhances covid-19 containment measures by bolstering current surveillance of entrants to the city. – Gaby B. Keith
